DEIR EZ-ZOR- The commander-in-chief of Deir ez-Zor Military Council, Ahmed Abu Khawla, said that the fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces(SDF) and Deir ez-Zor Military Council are now heading towards Sour area adjacent to the Iraqi border to liberate it from ISIS mercenaries.
As part of the campaign launched by the Deir ez-Zor Military Council comprised under the Syrian Democratic Forces(SDF), to liberate the remaining lands on the Syrian Cizîre and east of the Euphrates and eastern areas of Deir ez-Zor from ISIS mercenaries, a large-scale operation to liberate the strategic border area with Iraq is launched.
Abu Khawla said that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Deir ez-Zor Military Council began the liberation campaign in Sour area hours ago. “Sour area, adjacent to the Iraqi-Syrian border, is 50 km away from the city of Deir ez-Zor. This area includes many villages are still under the control of ISIS mercenaries”. Abu Khawla said.
“Our purpose of liberating this area is to expel ISIS mercenaries from vast geographical areas, from the lands of Deir ez-Zor and from the rest of Cizîre’s territory,” he added.
On the importance of this strategic area, the leader Abu Khawla said that “the area of Sour lies at the triangular border area between Iraq and Syria, which is the link between Cizîre and eastern Syria, and west of Iraq, and we aim to liberate this triangle of mercenaries in the next few days”.
The commander in –chief of Deir ez-Zor Military Council said that “Sour area contains large numbers of civilians who have been under the oppression of mercenaries for years, noting that they, Deir ez-Zor Military Council, are working with all their energies to open safe corridors for civilians to free them”.
The leader Ahmed Abu Khawla, that they have an agenda in the eastern bank of the Euphrates River to follow, and will do their best to implement it.
