Assyrians, Syriacs and Chaldeans form joint platform

NEWS CENTER – Assyrians, Syriacs and Chaldeans assocation in Istanbul came together under the roof of the Platform of Turkey’s Assyrians to create awareness for the attacks of ISIS at Ninehev and at the borderline of Xabûr.

Dozens of associations and foundations including the European Assyrians Unity (ESU) Turkey’s Representation, Union of Bethzabday Assyrian Churches, Union of Meer Village, Solidarity Union of Mesopotamia Syriac Chaldean Assyrian, Mesopotamia Culture and Solidarity Union, Platform Turabdin, Sabro Newspaper, Assyrian Woman Center, Federation of Assyrian Unions, Union of Assyrian Catholic Churches and suryaniler.com have formed a joint platform named Platform of Turkey’s Assyrians to create awareness for the attacks of ISIS at Ninehev and at the borderline of Habur and to proclaim their voices worldwide.

‘Attacks are against all oppressed peoples and beileves’

One of the founders of the platform, lawyer Erkan Metin, spoke to DİHA concerning their works and platform. Metin said, “The platform was firstly formed as an initiative in last June against the attacks of ISIS at Nineveh and Mosul and then turned into a platform. We want to make voices of Assyrians, Syriacs and Chaldeans heard in all the world and create awareness. We want to enhance solidarity and unity. Apart from lots of Assyrians, Syriacs and Chaldeans associations, the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) also supported us. It’s time for the oppressed peoples to rise up and to stand up. The attacks of ISIS are against all oppressed peoples and beileves”.

‘An association to be model for our peoples’

One of the first and foremost goal of the platform is to form spirit of unity and solidarity, stated Metin. He added, “Our aim is to provide the liberation of Assyrian, Syriac and Chaldean people within this scope. Assyrians, Syriacs and Chaldeans will endeavor not for separation but for unity and solidarity from now on. This platform is an association to be model for our peoples.”
