Deir ez-Zor, receiving and handover agreements carried out beside liberation operations-2

Disclosure of city’s handover to Syrian regime, highlighting al-Jazeera Tempest campaign

NEWS DESK– After “Jrood al-Qalamoon” Agreement between Lebanese Hezbollah on the one hand and IS mercenaries on the other hand supervised by Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah and Syrian president Bashar al-Assad, the conditions have been created for the advance of Syrian regime’s forces towards Deir-ez-Zor province to control it or to receive it from mercenaries according to the agreement. On the other hand, Syrian Democratic Forces launched al-Jazeera Tempest campaign to expel mercenaries from the east of the Euphrates river in the countryside of Deir-ez-Zor. During al-Jazeera Tempest campaign, the positions of Syrian Democratic Forces were bombarded by the Syrian regime and Russia, and mercenaries coordinated with the regime’s forces, simultaneously, to target the positions of Syrian Democratic Forces.

in August 26, an agreement was held between Lebanese Hezbollah and Daesh mercenaries to evacuate more than 300 mercenaries from al-Qalamoon Syrian region on the Lebanese border to Deir-ez-Zor province. In August 28, a convoy of mercenaries marched towards the Syrian city Deir-ez-Zor to move from there to Al-Bokmal city on the Iraqi border after the agreement, which was overseen by Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, after Nasrallah’s visit to Damascus and meeting Assad to finalize the agreement.

At the time, Hassan Nasrallah announced that the terms of the agreement “revealing the fate of the soldiers and handing over the bodies of all the dead who fought at the front and the release of the kidnapped bishops and the journalist Samir Kassab. In addition to receiving the prisoner Ahmed Maatouq from mercenaries.

The agreement also includes the delivering of Iranian Mohsen Hajji’s body, who was killed in al-Tanf area near the Syrian-Iraqi border. Revolutionary Guards and Hezbollah forces in Palmyra city in the middle Syria, received the body of the Iranian fighter and took it to Damascus and from there to Iran.

But Hassan Nasrallah did not disclose the most important terms of his agreement with mercenaries, which allows their exit from Jrood al-Qalamoon to al-Bokmal city in Deir ez-Zor, in exchange for that, the mercenaries hand over Deir ez-Zor city and its countryside to Syrian regime and armed groups fighting beside it.

The Global Coalition blocked the convoy of mercenaries in the desert and prevented them from entering Deir ez-Zor. They stayed in the Syrian Desert for two weeks and then entered Deir ez-Zor at the night of Wednesday, September 12-13 after a Russian-American consensus.

Syrian regime and IS mercenaries, receiving and handover

After the convoy entered Deir ez-Zor, Syrian regime and IS mercenaries began calling for the implementation of the withdrawal and surrender item of the agreement Jrood Al-Qalamoon where the Syrian regime had previously declared a military campaign to expel IS mercenaries from to Deir ez-Zor, but the campaign was proceeding very slowly.

Syrian regime announced the lifting of the siege imposed on Deir ez-Zor city by Daesh mercenaries for three years ago, and confirmed that its forces met the besieged forces in the city east of the countries.

After Deir ez-Zor, regime’s forces advanced towards the city of al-Bokmal, the last stronghold of IS mercenaries. With the participation of Revolutionary Guards, the Lebanese Hezbollah and the Iraqi Popular Crowd, regime forces entered al-Bokmal city and expelled mercenaries from the city in November 8.

But the next day, mercenaries launched a counter-attack on the city with suicide bombers and booby-trapped vehicles and managed to retake the city.

Al-Jazeera Tempest campaign to liberate the countryside of Deir ez-Zor

While the Syrian regime, Hezbollah, Iran and Russia were holding agreements with Daesh mercenaries, another agreement was being prepared, this time between Syrian Democratic Forces and the people of the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, the agreement was a kind of promoting morale without conditions and no items to rid the people of mercenaries.

In September 9, 2017 Deir ez-Zor Military Council issued a statement announcing launch of the “Al-Jazeera Tempest” campaign to liberate the remaining lands on the Syrian al-Jazeera, eastern Euphrates and the eastern areas of Deir ez-Zor from mercenaries.

The Global Coalition to Counter IS announced its support for al-Jazeera Tempest and said in a statement that “its forces will support Syrian Democratic Forces during its attack in Al- Khabour valley.

Bombarding SDF’s positions, Syrian regime and Russia support IS in Deir ez-Zor!

A few days after the launch of the campaign, the Syrian Democratic Forces liberated the cotton mill (the largest industrial facility in Deir ez-Zor) in September 13.

in September 16, after considerable victories over IS mercenaries, Syrian Democratic Forces’ positions were attacked by the Syrian and Russian aircrafts near the industrial city east of the Euphrates River. The air strikes on the positions of the Syrian Democratic Forces resulted in the wounding of 6 fighters of Syrian Democratic Forces.

Syrian Democratic Forces having liberated Conico Company for Gas and al-Azba Company in September 23, and on the day SDF liberated sugar factory and electricity station north of Deir ez-Zor from Daesh, the Russian aircrafts renewed bombarding SDF’s positions, “in an attempt to handicap fighters’ progress and granting a free service to IS” stated Abu Khawla the General Commander of the Deir ez-Zor Military Council.

Advancing on 4 axes, the campaign enters another stage

On September 28, having liberated vast spaces of the Syrian Jazeera east of the Euphrates, the General Command of al-Jazeera Tempest declared that a new stage has begun, being launched from 4 fronts; Mercada, al-Sor, al-Jazrat and the Industrial City aiming to wholly liberate the Syrian Jazeera.

A month after the launch of the campaign, Abu Khashab and al-Jazrat fronts met near the sugar factory; resulting in the killing of 156 mercenaries where 27 bodies were seized by the SDF fighters; moreover, in a special operation, 70 mercenaries were captured, 10 bombed vehicles were blasted, 3 vehicles loaded with Dushka and one armored vehicle were seized, and 50,000 civilians were saved from IS grip.

In addition, a space of 3,468 km2 including strategic positions like sugar factory, coton gin, electricity station, Conico Company, al-Jafra and al-Azba oil fields and the town of al-Sor east of Deir ez-Zor were liberated.

Hawar news agency reporting truth and the victories of the fighters from the countryside of Deir ez-Zor to the international public opinion, the mercenaries have targeted the voice of truth that kept up with the campaign step by step, as in October 12, IS committed a massacre amongst a crowd of civilians escaping the regime-held areas to SDF’s blowing up a bombed vehicle which resulted in the martyrdom of ANHA reporters Delishan Ibish and Hogir Muhamad, and wounding another; Rizgar Deniz, while dozens of civilians lost their lives and many others were wounded.

In October 14, al-Sor axis met Mercada, two days later, the Syrian regime shelled the Syrian Democratic Forces’ positions with missiles wounding 4 fighters, SDF, in turn, responded to the shelling.

The biggest oil field in Syria liberated

The Syrian Democratic Forces’ victories continued in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor liberating in October 22, al-Omar oil field 10 km east of the city of al-Mayadeen.

On November 9, the Syrian Democratic Forces liberated Marcada town and other 24 villages from IS gangs; thus, liberating a space of more than 5 km2 in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor and al-Hasakah from IS gangs.

then al-Tenk oil field 35 km east of Jair southeast to Deir ez-Zor and al-Basira town in the countryside of the city were also taken.

In the coming few days, as al-Jazeera Tempest continues, the Deir ez-Zor Military Council, comprised under the SDF, is expected to take hold of the whole countryside of Deir ez-Zor east of the Euphrates River.

Agreements between Daesh and the Syrian regime against SDF in Deir ez-Zor

In October 24, a predetermined attack simultaneously planned by the Syrian regime and the Daesh gangs was carried out on the SDF’s points in the Jafra center (train station), the Baathist regime also launched attacks with heavy arms on the SDF in Jabayla village, SDF, in turn, responded to the attacks and foiled them.

During the campaign of al-Jazeera Tempest, Syrian Democratic Forces’ positions have been targeted many a time by the Syrian regime’s forces and Russia; moreover, agreements were held between IS and the regime to attack SDF. The Syrian regime opened the door for IS to move their arms and ammunition through regime-held areas to target SDF.

In the third part of this dossier, we will touch upon the details of Daesh relations with the Syrian regime and the facilitations provided to the gangs to target SDF’s positions.
