Energy sources in al-Jazeera region, generated, distributed power

NEWS DESK-Al-Jazeera region in northern Syria is fed by the electricity from three main sources of electricity: gas turbines at Swedia thermal generation plant and dams, as well as power generation engines (generators) in most areas of the region.

These sources are as follows:

Swedia thermal generation plant

Gas turbines belonging to the oil company

These are six gas turbines to generate electricity

Technical status of the turbines

3 turbines in operation, each turbine operates at an average rate of 30-40 MWh, in the current situation.

One turbine does not produce more than 8 megawatts, due to poor technical status.

Two broken turbines.

The 4 turbines feed the following sites:

Oil wells, industrial zone (industrial zone, production plants, al-Hefarat), workers’ houses in Rmaylan town.

It also feeds a number of villages within the network of oil wells in the fields of Swedia Kratchuk, Rmaylan, Alayyan, Babasi and Saida, Dêrik city, some and the Safan water purification plant, and neighboring villages.

Gas turbines belonging to the electricity company

5 turbines generate electricity

Technical status of the turbines

3 turbines in operation produce an average of 40-50 MWh, and are threatened to stop at any moment in order to exceed the working life of the working hours.

The 3 turbines feed the following exceptional sites: (mills, hospitals, water resources, wells, drinking water pumping stations for the Qamişlo and al-Hasakah areas). It also feeds a number of al-Jazeera cities.

Power generation group for diesel engines

These groups are located in Amuda, Darbasiyah and Qamişlo, they are used in an emergency, and are not fixed generators in their work, because they are limited in capacity.

Sources of power generation from dams

Rojava Dam

The storage capacity of the dam is 1.8 milliard cubic meters, containing 6 water turbines with a nominal capacity of 100 megawatts per hour, operated according to the water intake situation, which is very little due to the Erdogan government policy, which limits water flow most of the year.

Euphrates dam (al-Tabqa)

The storage capacity of the dam is 14 milliard cubic meters, containing 8 water-generating groups, all of which were destroyed by mercenaries.

Two groups were repaired, feeding al- Hasakah areas.

Al-Hurria Dam

The storage capacity of the dam is 900 million cubic meters. The dam contains 3 generating sets, 25 megawatts, each of which has only one group operating and not connected to al-Jazeera network so far.

The dam feeds the areas of Kobani, Srin, Manbij, Jeraniya, Mansoura and rural areas, as well as water pumps in al- Khafsa and Babiri regions, which consume about 30 megawatts.

Areas of al-Jazeera region benefiting from these dams

Al-Mabrouka 230 station, and the areas of Sari Kana, Tal Tamer, Darbasiyah, al-Hasakah, Amuda and al-Shadadi districts and Alouk water pumping station at a rate of 75 to 90 MW.
