AL-TABQA – General cleaning operations, as well as the removal of rubble and dust, are now under way in the former aquarium tower, located in the third neighborhood of al-Ahya area in al-Tabqa city.
These operations come in the first step followed by steps such as the coming workshops of painting, carpentry and blacksmithing.
The aim of these operations is to rehabilitate the tower in order to be the future seat of the Legislative Council and the democratic civil administration of al-Tabqa area.
It is noteworthy that the tower was detained for IS during the control of al-Tabqa city and about four years ago, and called the people the name of ” death tower ” for the large number of killings that took place.
This will not demolish the tower to be rebuilt but the plan is to rehabilitate the three floors below the upper, the broad building to be the headquarters of the executive and legislative councils.
Cleaning has begun recently, and is expected to be completed after about 25 days.
The two chambers are due to resume their work in the tower before the beginning of next year.
