QAMISHLO- The Syrian writer and poet Roula Hassan described the amendment of the Personal Status Law in Iraq as “the new and great violation of women’s rights” which makes her vulnerable to further exploitation because of such unfair laws.”

Roula Hassan said “Passing this amendment and making negative changes to the spirit of the personal status law is a new and flagrant violation of women’s rights and makes her vulnerable to further exploitation because of the unfair laws against her.
she considered that this law is a new dedication to “discrimination against women” and not to recognize their equality with men and their basic rights and thus “to strike the roots of Iraqi society.
Roula stressed that the presence of an oppressed woman would create distorted generations unable to build. “Free women are the only ones capable of building societies.
