The battalion that was announced by a statement consists of 35 fighters from the cities Hama, al-Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor, Hasakah, and al-Shadady.
The statement included:
The attacks that are launched by the extremist terrorist gangs on the area inflicted the society especially women a serious damage, and the battles conditions affected negatively at first hand women, and the society in general.
Against the frenzied terrorist gangs, a women force comprised Kurdish, Arab, Christian women that repelled terrorism emerged, and they struggled against all battles broke out on women.
We as Arab women suffered both of bitters including the society oppression and the repressive practices in addition to the male mentality of the extremist gangs so we held arms like Women Protection Unit (YPJ) and fought for the sake of liberation.
The campaign which women are participating within Wrath of Euphrates and al-Raqqa liberation campaign aims firstly at women liberation.
After our number increased and our organization expanded, we saw that it is better to form a military battalion especially for women within SDF. In addition, the battalion of Şehîd Amara is the first battalion for Arab women who struggle in Deir ez-Zor area.
We are confident that our beginning would result in forming women’s battalions in all the areas in order to fight terrorism and liberate women and society.
