Sheikh Aly: Turkish threats have not affected Afrin’ elections atmosphere

AFRIN- The general secretary of the Kurdish Democratic Unity Party in Syria (Yekiti) Meh al-Din Shiekh Aly voted for the elections of the Local Administration councils, and described the atmosphere of elections in Afrin region stating “the area’s peoples are voting enthusiastically, and the Turkish threats have not affected their free will.”

As he was heading to the ballot boxes to vote in Afrin canton, Meh al-Din Sheikh Aly talked to Hawar news agency about the importance of the elections ongoing in North Syria amid the attacks launched by the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries against the area.

Sheikh Aly said “the elections are witnessing atmospheres of happiness and enthusiasm by the people of the canton,” and noted that all the canton’s people have been heading since morning hours towards the ballot boxes centers in order to vote.

Sheikh Aly continued that the people of the canton are electing enthusiastically and without fear, there is an intensive turnout towards the ballot boxes in spite of the threats of the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries, and by their attacks against the region, they aim at foiling the democratic system and the peaceful solution.

Sheikh Aly also noted that these threats have not affected the electoral operations running, rather, they increased the determination of the people to head towards the ballot boxes because Afrin people are always united, and within these elections they proved again their unite to everybody.

The general secretary of the Kurdish Democratic Unity Party in Syria (Yekiti) Meh al-Din Sheikh Aly concluded his speech assuring that the elections of North Syria would form a basis to construct Democratic Syria.
