The victory of Kobani resistance is rebirth for the peoples of the North of Syria
KOBANI– The latest victory of the resistance in Kobani and the first defeat by IS mercenaries, calling for a change in the balances of power on the Syrian and Iraqi lands and forced many to restore political and military calculations again, in addition to that, Kobani has become a starting point for the liberation of the cities of the north of Syria and the beginning of the end of the IS mercenaries, Kobani rebirth for the peoples of the area.
In our dossier, we will highlight the implications of the victory of the battle of Kobani which began on July 15, 2014 and ended with the victory of the People Protection Units and Women Protection Units at the expense of IS mercenaries on January 26 2015, 134 days after the legendary resistance.

Kobani is the starting point for the liberation of offensive planning centers for IS mercenaries
December 26, 2014 The date of the liberation of the city of Kobanî cannot in any way be considered a transitory moment that can easily be avoided, because that history was a decisive turning point in the process of drawing new features of the Syrian situation.
After the announcement of the liberation of Kobanî, the military operations did not stop until the villages of the canton. As the operations continued, the other village was liberated on the three fronts of fighting (south, east and west).
After a few months, the People Protection Units were able to liberate all the villages of Kobani which were occupied by IS mercenaries during the launching of the military campaign to control Kobanî, and the People Protection Units were standing on the outskirts of the military points IS launched attacks from on Kobanî.
Al-Shuyoukh town liberated
The town of Al-Shuyoukh is one of the towns that are administratively related to the city of Kobanî. It is about 30 km away from the west. It is inhabited by Arabs and Kurds, an area known for its abundance of water. It is located on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River. It is at the opposite end the city of Jarablus and is about 13 kilometers from the Turkish border.
The town of al-Shuyoukh al-Fawqani and al-Shuyoukh al- Thatani was a major center for IS mercenaries launching attacks on the western front of Kobanî, so control of the town meant the fall of a center of IS mercenaries attack planning centers.
Less than two months after the liberation of the city of Kobani on March 6, 2015, the People Protection Units and Women Protection Units were able to liberate the town of Shuyoukh in full.
One day later, the People Protection Units announced the liberation of the entire western countryside from IS mercenaries and the arrival of their fighters to the banks of the eastern Euphrates River, which is 30 km away from the center of the Kobanî.
The battels continued at a violent pace between the People Protection Units and Women Protection Units on the one hand, and IS mercenaries in the villages of Kobani on the other hand. After the liberation of the entire western countryside and most of the southern villages, the battels were continued to liberate the eastern countryside of the city.
The eastern countryside of the city was the most geographically large, so controlling it required more time and power.
While the YPG and YPJ were moving forward with the liberation of the villages separating the town of Kobani from (Girê Sipî) in the east, the People Protection Units launched on May 6, 2015 a military campaign under the name of “Martyr Robar Qamishlo” campaign aimed at liberating the western countryside of Cizîre canton and linking the canton of Kobani with al-Jazeera together.
The campaign included the liberation of Mount Kazwan “Abdul Aziz” and then the area of Tel Tamar and the countryside of Serê Kaniyê, and then the towns of Mabrouka and Suluk were liberated in a very short period of time.
On June 15, 2015, the YPG and YPJ liberated the town of( Girê Sipî) Tel-Abyed is located 60 kilometers east of the city of Kobani, which is of great strategic importance as one of the most important IS mercenaries strongholds in the north and its gateway to Turkey, thus the road between the Cizîre and Kobanî cantons was opened.
Ain Issa liberation
Within the framework of the campaign of Robar Qamishlo, on June 22, 2015, the People Protection Units and Women Protection Units managed to liberate the town of Ain Issa, located 70 kilometers from Kobanî in the southeast and the headquarter of the near 93rd Brigade where IS mercenaries have seized a large quantities of weapons and used them in the military campaign against Kobanî.
With the liberation of Ain Issa, the third stronghold of the IS mercenaries fell after (Girê Sipî),Tel–Abyed and the Al-Shuyoukh.
Sareen town liberation
The town of Sareen, 45 km south of the city of Kobani was also one of the main centers taken by IS mercenaries as a starting point in the attacks on the southern villages of the city of Kobanî.
IS gangs also committed in the town of Sireen a massacre of June 25 in the village of Berkh Batan and the city of Kobani in 2015 which left 233 civilians from the canton victims.
In a large-scale military operation carried out by the People Protection Units, the town was liberated on July 27, 2015.
Tishreen Dam and Manbij liberated
The victories have been achieved by the People Protection Units and Women Protection Units and the Syrian Democratic Forces formed on October 15, 2015, have the main objective of liberating the Syrian lands from terrorist groups, especially IS mercenaries.
The Syrian Democratic Forces, the People Protection Units and Women Protection Units, basic force in the liberation of the Tishreen Dam on December 26, 2015, thus achieving another major victory that was added to the series of victories by the forces mentioned earlier.
The liberation of cities and areas adjacent to the city of Kobani and IS-held areas continued this way until the forces of the Manbij Military Council and the Syrian Democratic Forces set off from the Dam of Tishreen towards the city of Manbij to free it from IS mercenaries.
On August 12, 2016, the forces were able to liberate the city of Manbij which was of strategic importance, as it was the operational planning center for foreigners where several attacks in western countries were launched.
From Kobani to al-Raqqa..Kobanî has been the starting point towards the end of IS mercenaries
The fact that the victory of the battle of Kobani which was the first defeat of IS mercenaries at all, and the start of the battle of al-Raqqa and the decline of the influence of IS mercenaries in both Syria and Iraq is an unavoidable reality.
The battle of Kobani was starting point for the battle of al-Raqqa the main stronghold of IS mercenaries in Syria, in addition to that, the city of Mosul and all the strongholds of IS mercenaries in Syria and Iraq.
On November 6, 2016, the Syrian Democratic Forces announced the launch of the “Wrath of Euphrates” campaign to liberate the countryside of the city of al- Raqqa. The battle continued in several stages, four of which ended on the outskirts of the city after the liberation of hundreds of villages and many towns ( Al-Karama, Tal al-Saman, Mansoura, the city of al –Tabqa and the Euphrates Dam).
On June 6, 2017, the same forces announced the start of the liberation of the neighborhoods of al-Raqqa from IS mercenaries. Till now, the campaign continues and the forces have liberated 70 percent of the city.
Observers expect the fighting to end in al- Raqqa in early November, but the fighting has not yet ended and fighting is still raging within the walls of the city.
Kobani victory is a rebirth of North of Syria peoples
It is no secret IS mercenaries have imposed harsh and extremist teachings on all the areas they were controlled, so the levels of suffering in those areas were peaked, and the salvation of those IS mercenaries, who were believed to be undefeatable by everyone, was a dream for every civilian who lived under control of IS mercenaries.
But with the liberation of every village, town, city and region, a new era came to light for the people of the northern cities of Syria who were liberated thanks to the victory of the Kobanî resistance, from which they launched the liberation of the cities of the north of Syria from Tel –Abyed, Ain Issa, Manbij and even al-Raqqa.
