The 13-year-old named Salih Hesen, who was taken captive by ISIS on August 3, 2014 and forced to fight, was rescued by YJŞ fighters in the process of liberating Raqqa city in order to avenge the kidnapped and murdered Yazdi people.

The child who had been forced to fight amid three years of military and religious education imposed by ISIS, was rescued by the YJŞ fighters in a confrontation on the eastern front of Raqqa. The 13-year-old was then taken to a safe zone.

Hesen, who had the joy of escaping from ISIS captivity, said he was taken captive with his family when he was at the mere age of 10, forced to convert to the religion of Islam. He said he felt immense happiness when he first saw the Yazidi female fighters who rescued him.
